Sustainability, Regenerative Farming and Carbon Capture
In 2021, Camgrain formed a Sustainability and Carbon Capture Farming group with Group CEO, Simon Willis, as Chairperson.
This group comprises several progressive agriculture ambassador farming members including David White, John Jefferies and Adam Driver.
Its priority is to review (and, if appropriate, recommend):
- The best-in-class measurement tools (for both measuring farm practices and carbon capture)
- Environmental schemes/initiatives
- Environmental measures on farm
It has also been asked to keep the Camgrain Board updated on:
- Global environmental and sustainable farming initiatives
- Government schemes, news and opportunities for funding
- Any other relevant insights, grants and changes to farming practices and the carbon certification marketplace
In reporting back, the group has been asked to ensure we are aligned closely with our marketing partners and our key end customers such as Boortmalt, Warburtons and Nestle.
Sustainable and/or regenerative farming schemes
To date, Camgrain has offered various market opportunities to its members. These include:
- A carbon measurement project, survey, and farming group with Boortmalt, in exchange for 3 years of data payments .
- An opportunity for an enhanced premium for farmers supplying Warburtons in exchange for production data relevant to their wheat supply.
- LENS funding for members in selected postcodes looking for funding to reduce their carbon footprint.
- Soil Capital and Soil Exchange projects with Nestle Cereal Partners.
If you are interested in being involved in this farming group or would like to take part in future sustainable farming or carbon capture opportunities, please contact the membership team.
