Integrated Store Network
The concept of farmer owned central storage was first established in the UK in the early 1980's following its huge success across other European countries, where collaborative farmer-owned storage and marketing is now the norm.
With the formation of Openfield, the first national farmer-owned combinable crop marketing business 2 years ago, a quietly co-ordinated revolution has been underway to establish an integrated network of professionally maintained and operated central storage and processing centres across the UK.

With the strong support of farmers, the food supply industry and government, these advanced facilities can now offer guaranteed quality supply to customers on a just in time, 24hr, seven day week basis.
Camgrain have been leading the way with co-ordination of these facilities with its APC stores.
For harvest 2012, farmer-owned co-operative Camgrain will be operating four APC sites across central England from the Cotswolds to East Anglia as part of the UK Openfield Network. In addition to owning two existing Advanced Processing Centres in Cambridgeshire, Camgrain will be operating a revitalised APC store at Stratford upon Avon and will own and operate a new Advanced Processing Centre at Kettering, Northamptonshire.
The Northants APC will benefit from £4.39 million of grant funding from the East Midlands Development Agency (now DEFRA) and will be commissioned ready for harvest 2012. These four sites will
be handling close to 0.5 million tonnes. With Camgrain's 28 year track record of professional maintenance and exceptional service to members and consumers alike, farmers can be assured they are investing in an appreciating asset. The farmer owned marketing link with Openfield completes the picture.
