Industry

Camgrain is at the forefront of the movement to establish and shorten supply chain partnerships between farmers and consumers, manufacturers, food and retail groups.

Our investment in food safety and high quality facilities, with the ability to dry, segregate and grade grain has impressed many end users in the milling, brewing and breakfast cereal sectors. Camgrain is fully accredited under TASCC, the Trade Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops for storage, laboratory testing and haulage. We are members of the UK NIR Grain Network, a centrally-audited network of laboratory facilities, ensuring traceable analysis of protein, nitrogen, oil, moisture and mycotoxins.

Our Clean Wheat Plant holds a “Grade A” accreditation under the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for food safety. This plant consistently produces cleaned wheat to the highest food safety specification for major manufacturers of breakfast cereals.

The Camgrain commitment to quality and service has demonstrated to our customers that they can be sure of getting the grain they ordered, on the day they want it, and at the correct specification.

This level of performance increases trust, allowing all parties to take advantage of the very real benefits that can be taken out of the supply chain. Our aim is to make claims, allowances and rejections things of the past.

The ultimate expression of this philosophy is the establishment of a Vendor assured protocol, in which Camgrain guarantees the quality of their grain deliveries to the consumer, avoiding duplicate analysis on intake and allowing a speedy turnaround of delivery vehicles - the 100% solution to rejections at intake and reduced food miles.

The Camgrain message has been enthusiastically taken up by major flour millers, Whitworth Bros, working in partnership with Openfield and Sainsbury's to develop a unique sole supply arrangement that now generates a substantial market for milling wheat grown by our members - shortening the marketing chain by creating direct links between Camgrain's intake and our customer’s production line. In addition, Camgrain have been supplying Malting Barley to major players within the global drinks industry for many years.

Camgrain’s experience in these supply chain agreements allows us to work with potential customers to improve product development and provide a secure long term source of quality assured grain from a trusted supplier. An efficient logistics operation including our own fleet of 44 tonne bulk grain delivery Lorries enables Camgrain to control deliveries to meet customer’s needs.

Camgrain is part of Network Grain UK a National Network of Farmer Owned Central Store Co-operatives.
